About products:

MillCreek dyes are a breeze to use! One ounce of flakes will color approximately 30 to 40 pounds of wax to a medium shade.  The liquid colorant is more concentrated and will color more wax. For lighter or darker shades, simply adjust the amount used. The best way to obtain consistency throughout your candle line is by weighing the amount used before adding to wax.  Different dyes can be mixed to create different colors. Try adding a little brown to achieve a richer color.   Conducting fade and burn tests is always recommended for individual results.

Dye Flakes:  Dissolve dye flakes in the wax at approximately 180 degrees.  Stirring the dye flakes into your wax will speed up the process. Always make sure color flakes are completely melted before pouring the candle.  Typical usage is approximately 1/2 gram per pound of wax. Tip:  When done mixing dyes, dip a piece of white paper in your pour pot and allow to dry.  This color should give you a good idea of how your finished candles will appear. The color you are trying to achieve is a matter of preference and the amount used will depend on your desired shade. Dye Flakes are sold in one ounce bags.

Liquid Dyes: Add your liquid dye drops into your melted wax at 175*, stirring until incorporated. The liquid dyes do have a scent from the bottle but are used in such a very small percentage that the dye scent should not change the scent of your candles. The color you are trying to achieve is a matter of preference and the amount used will depend on your desired shade.  Liquid Candle Dyes sold in one ounce dropper bottles.

UV Stabilizer: is used to aid in color retention of colored candles that are exposed to sunlight/UV rays and fluorescent lighting. Recommend testing usage: .01%-.03%.  Add into wax as it is melting prior to introducing color and/or fragrance.  Mix thoroughly before adding color and/or fragrance.  UV Stabilizer is available in powered form in one ounce packages.
